ROSE FLOWER—With Dark Pink ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 6, d c in ring, * ch 3, d c in ring, repeat from * twice, ch 3, join in 3rd st of ch.
2nd Row—1 s c, 5 d c, 1 s c over each ch 3 loop, join.
3rd Row—* Ch 5, s c between next 2 petals in back of work, repeat from * 4 times.
4th Row—Ch 1 and over each loop work 1 s c, 7 d c, 1 s c, join.
5th Row—* Ch 6, s c in back of work between next 2 petals, repeat from * 4 times.
6th Row—Ch 1 and over each loop work 1 s c, 9 d c, 1 s c, join, break thread.
7th Row—Attach Green in same space, * ch 7, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts of ch (s d c: thread over hook, insert in st, pull through, thread over and pull through all loops at one time), 1 d c in each of the next 3 sts of ch, s c in same space between petals, ch 6, s c in back of work between next 2 petals, repeat from * all around (5 leaves) ch 6, join.
8th Row—Work 5 s c up side of next leaf, 3 s c in point of leaf, 5 s c down other side of same leaf, 8 s c over next ch 6 loop, repeat from beginning 4 times, break thread.
9th RowStart Petal: Attach Light Pink in 1st s c of the 8 s c group between leaves, ch 3, d c in same space, 1 d c in each of the next 2 s c, 2 d c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 d c in each of the next 2 s c, 2 d c in next s c, ch 3, turn.
10th Row—2 d c in same space, 1 d c in each of the next 10 d c, 3 d c in 3rd st of ch, ch 3, turn.

Bird Tea Pot Holder Pattern – Crochet

 

It may sound a bit corny...but I especially like this bird tea pot holder because my tea kettle sings like a bird when the water is boiling. Enjoy making this cute tea pot holder.

MATERIALS

4 ply Fingering.

Scraps of Red, Green, Blue, Fawn and White.

One No. 2 Steel Crochet Hook (American Gauge).

Two Small Pearl Buttons for Eyes.

Piece of Flannel for Needle Case.

If used as a Needle Case make flannel lining and sew inside.

SIDE

Beginning at head with Red Ch. 3 sts. Join in ring with s.s.

1st round: Ch. 1. 11 d.e. in ring. Join with s.s. Ch. 1. Turn.

2nd round: *1.s.c. in each of next 2 sts. 2 s.c. in next st. Repeat from * to end of round. Join with s.s. Ch. 1. Turn.

3rd round: *1.s.c. in next st. 2 s.c. in next st. Repeat from * to end of round. Join with s.s. Ch. 1. Turn. Proceed: ---

1st row: 1.s.c. in each of 1st 4 sts. Leave Red. Join White. 1.s.c. in each of next 3 sts. Ch. 1. Turn.

2nd row: With White 1.s.c. in each of 1st 3 sts. Break White. Pick up Red and work 1.s.c. in each of remaining 4 sts. Ch. 1. Turn.

WINGS

With Blue Ch. 17 sts.

1st row: 1.s.c. in 2nd Ch. from hook and 1.s.c. in each Ch. to end of row. Ch. 1. Turn.

2nd row: *1.s.c. in next st. 2 s.c. in next st. Repeat from * to end of row. Ch. 4. Turn.

3rd row: 1.s.c. in 2nd Ch. from hook and 1.s.c. in each Ch. and st. to end or row. Fasten off.

BEAK

With Fawn Ch. 6 sts. 1.d.e. in 4th Ch. from hook and each of remaining 2 Ch. Working along other side of Ch. work 1.d.e. in each Ch. and base of turning Ch. of previous row. Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP

Sew up seam along back and around head. Pad the head with wool and sew buttons in position for eyes. Sew beak and wings in position. For the tail cut strands of Green, Red and Blue 8 ins. long. Place cut ends of 2 strands together, thus forming a loop. Pass this loop down through the s.c. at end of body for about ½ inch, then pass the cut ends of the same strands through the loop and draw up. Repeat this in each s.c. along the end placing the Green to the back and the Red at the Front.

 

Pansy Flower Potholder Pattern – Crochet

MATERIALS

Steel crochet needle 00

Cotton Yarn – 1 Skein Each Yellow & Purple & 3 Yards Green

(OR)

Rug Yarn – 2 Skeins Yellow & 1 Skein Purple & 3 Yards Green

With Yellow ch 8, join to form a ring, * ch 3, 3 d c in ring, ch 3, turn.

2nd Row. 2 d c in same space, 3 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 3 d c in end ch, ch 3, turn.

3rd Row. 2 d c in same space, 1 d c in each d c working 3 d c in end ch, ch 3, turn.

4th Row. Same as last row but ch 1 to turn.

5th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts (s d c: yarn over hook, insert in st, pull through, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time), 1 d c in each of the next 12 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1, turn. Repeat last row twice, sl st down side of petal, sl st into ring, repeat from * twice, break Yellow.

Attach Purple in ring, ch 3 and work 4 d c in ring, ch 3, turn.

2nd Row. 2 d c in same space, 3 d c in each remaining st.

3rd and 4th Rows. Same as 3rd row of Yellow petal.

5th Row. 1 d c in each st, ch 1, turn.

6th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 15 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 2 sts, ch 1, turn. Repeat last row twice, break Purple. Attach Purple in ring and work 1 more petal in same manner, break Purple.

Work a row of s c around entire petal working Yellow on Purple petals and Purple on the 3 Yellow petals.

With Green embroider the Yellow petals as illustrated using long and short stitches. Tack petals in position having the 2 Purple petals at top.

UNDER SECTION

With Yellow ch 2, 8 s c in 2nd st from hook, join in 1st s c.

2nd Row. Ch 1 and work 2 s c in each s c, do not join. Place a marker at beginning of each row.

3rd Row. Working in s c increase in every other s c.

4th Row. Increase in every 3rd s c.

5th Row. 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, ch 8 for thumb opening, skip 6 s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c.

6th Row. * 1 s c in next st, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * all around working on ch in same manner.

7th and 8th Rows. Work even in s c.

9th Row. Increase in every 4th s c. Work 3 more rows of s c increasing a sufficient number of times in each row to keep work flat, break yarn.

THUMB

With Yellow.

Directions are given for Cotton Yam and  Rug Yarn. Heavy Rug Yam is given in parenthesis.

Work 16 (12) s c around thumb opening and without joining rows work 6 (3) more rows even.

Next row: Decrease 4 (3) sts evenly spaced, then work 2 (1) rows even.

Decrease every other st. until 5 (3) sts remain, break yam leaving an end. Thread into needle and draw together., fasten firmly.

Sew the 2 sections together having the thumb to right and leaving 2 Yellow petals free at lower edge. With Green cover a bone ring with s c and sew to top of holder.
