Pixie Costume to Make

  • 1 fold each No. 131 Nile Green,
  • No. 139 GrassGreen;
  • 2 yds. 1/2″ green ribbon;
  • small metalbell;
  • paste;
  • muslin slip.

Make darts in slip for snug fit at waist*. Using about 2 1/2 yds. for fullness, make gathered skirt of light green 3″ above knees. Stitch to slip I” below waistline*.

Cut a 60″ strip of dark green the same length as the skirt into 5″ wide, 5″ deep points*, Fig. G. Gather and stitch at waistline.

Make a plain blouse of dark green*. Cut 5″ wide strips of both colors long enough to go around armholes. Fold together and cut one long edge into 3″ wide, 3″ deep points. Stitch around points, turn and press. Stitch around armholes and fold over to outside. Make a similar pointed piece and stitch around neck, Fig. H.

Make similar double-pointed strip for top of skirt. Stitch in place, at the same time turning the bottom of the blouse under and stitching, Fig. J.

Cut cap from double thickness of dark green with pattern, Fig. K. Stitch from top of fold around to head size. Turn. Bind head size with a 2″ wide strip of light green, folded like biasĀ  tape to 1/2″. Stitch in place. Sew small bell to point of cap.
