MATERIALS
3 ply Fingering Yarn
1 oz. Green (B)
Two No. 10 Knitting Needles
2 Press Fasteners
THE VEST
FRONT: With (B) wool cast on 40 sts. work 4 rows (K1. P1). Continue even in Stocking st. Until work measures 2 ¼ ins. From beginning.
To shape armholes: Cast off 2 sts. beginning next 2 rows, then dec. 1. st. Each end of needle on next and every alternate row to 32 sts. on needle.
Continue even until work measures 4 inches from the beginning ending with purl row.
To shape neck: K12. Cast off 8 sts. K12. Working on the last 12 sts. continue in Stocking st. at neck edge every alternate row to 7 sts. on needle. Cast off. With wrong side of work facing joining wool to remaining 12 sts. and work other shoulder of to correspond.
BACK: Work exactly as given for Front.
TO MAKE UP:
Press carefully. Sew side seams. Around armholes, shoulders and neck work the following scalloped edge: –
With right side of work, join wool at one side seam. * Miss approximately ¼ inch of edge end in a next space work 5 d.c. Miss approximately ¼ inch of edge end in next its space working even. Fasten off. Sew 1 press fastener to close each shoulder.
